PaveDrain Manufacturer Warranty

Aaron Fisher | January 1, 2022

Ernest Maier in partnership with PaveDrain is proud to offer the only manufacturer warranty for a permeable pavement stormwater BMP (best management practice).

3-Year Manufacturer Performance Warranty: Surface infiltration ≥500 in/hr

If after maintenance PaveDrain surface infiltration is <500 in/hr we will clean to perform above this benchmark.

  • Anytime within 3 years your installed PaveDrain system will infiltrate water according to the ASTM C1701/C1701M-09, or C1781 test at or above 500 in/hr.
    • Result is the average of 3 representative test sites: One chosen by manufacturer, one chosen by owner, and one chosen jointly.
  • Maintenance: Recommended maintenance process should be followed as per most recent relevant manufacturer guidance at the time of installation
    • Cleaning must occur at least every 2 years, or when 75% of the surface area falls below 100 in/hr
    • Excessive build-up of organic debris (leaves, lawn clipping, etc) require more frequent maintenance cycles, including sweeping.
    • Failure to follow these maintenance guidelines will nullify this warranty
  • Additional conditions as below

Extended 6-Year No-Maintenance Warranty: >8 in/hr always

  • Anytime within 6 years your installed PaveDrain system will infiltrate water according to the ASTM C1701/C1701M-09, or C1781 test at or above 8 in/hr.
    • Result is the average of 3 representative test sites: One chosen by manufacturer, one chosen by owner, and one chosen jointly.
  • No maintenance or cleaning required
  • Additional conditions as below

 Fine Print for both

  • Proper Installation: Installation must be performed by a licensed, and PaveDrain-certified contractor and follow manufacturer’s guidance
    • Base compaction in 6”-8” lifts
    • Proper use of geotextiles and geofabrics
    • Open joints
  • Use
    • Warranty is voided if pavement surface is used to store loose aggregate (sand, stone, mulch, soil, etc.)
    • Plowing should be done with a rubber tipped blade / raised blade
  • Limitations
    • Warranty does not cover blocks that are chipped, damaged, cracked or suffer some other cosmetic issue that do not impact stormwater performance.
      • If heavy vehicle traffic is expected, use PaveDrain HD blocks
    • Warranty is only available for block purchased directly from Ernest Maier or its subsidiaries beginning January 1, 2022
    • Applies only to contiguous areas larger than 300 SF

FAQ

You say expect 1600 in/hr of surface infiltration, but are only guaranteeing 500 in/hr?

500 in/hr is above what any of our competitors will even realistically claim under ideal conditions. We chose 500 in/hr so you would feel comfortable that our system would outperform everything else on the market.

Why 8 in/hr?

This is the standard that MDE (Maryland Department of the Environment) sets for permeable pavement/alternative surfaces to be credited as such.

Are we crazy?

Crazy confident.
